Steve Jobs präsentiert das Apple iPad In einer Presseaussendung bestätigt jetzt, was vor einigen Tagen aus Hochrechnungen und Marktanalysen hervorging: Das Millionste hat bereits den Besitzer gewechselt.

Apple today announced that it sold its one millionth iPad on Friday, just 28 days after its introduction on April 3. iPad users have already downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore.

“One million iPads in 28 days that's less than half of the 74 days it took to achieve this milestone with iPhone,“ said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers.“

Zum Vergleich: Für den Millionsten iPod brauchte Apple gut eineinhalb Jahre. Beim iPhone waren es nur noch 74 Tage, und nach genau 28 Tagen wurde der Meilenstein mit dem iPad erreicht.
Diesen Rekord toppen nur noch iPhone 3G und iPhone 3GS: Hier dauerte es jeweils 3 Tage, um 1 Million Geräte zu verkaufen.

Damit aber nicht genug: Über 12 Millionen Apps und 1,5 Millionen eBooks wurden aus dem iPad AppStore bzw. iBookStore bereits heruntergeladen.
Bis jetzt gibt es 5.000 iPad-optimierte Apps, die zusammen mit den über 200.000 Apps aus dem Store für iPhone und iPod Touch am iPad genutzt werden können.
