Für Entwickler: Silkscreen bringt Live-Vorschau von Designs aufs iPhone und iPad

Silkscreen ist wohl eines der praktischsten neuen Tools für iOS-Entwickler: Gerade am Mac erstellte Designs werden (wahlweise per Drag&Drop, oder automatisch nach dem Speichern) über WiFi auf das eigene iPhone oder iPad übertragen, und dort direkt am Gerät angezeigt. So können Design-Entwürfe direkt am iPhone bzw. iPad getestet und optimiert werden.
Die App-Kombo funtkioniert mit JPG, PNG, GIF, aber auch Photoshop-, Fireworks- und Illustrator-Dateien.

Silkscreen gibt es für 7,99 Euro im Mac AppStore, die passende iOS-App ist kostenlos.

Die virtuelle Assistentin Siri ist offiziell nur am iPhone 4S funktionsfähig.
Die Jailbreaker unter euch nutzen vielleicht bereits einen Siri-ähnlichen Tweak namens Siri0us für iPhone 4 und 3GS.
Wie sieht es aber für iPhone-Benutzer aus, die keinen Jailbreak vornehmen möchten, oder für Besitzer eines iPad (1. oder 2. Generation)?

Auch für euch gibt es Siri-ähnliche Lösungen: Evi ist eine 79-Eurocent-App von True Knowledge, die, wie auch Siri0us, direkt die Spracherkennung von Nuance nutzt. Erst durch die Partnerschaft zwischen Apple und Nuance wurde auch Siri ermöglicht. Der App-Preis entspricht dabei den Lizenzkosten für den Nuance-Dienst. (Die Android-Version von Evi ist kostenlos, da sie statt auf Nuance auf den Google Spracherkennungsdienst setzt.)
Es gibt aber auch einige Nachteile: Evi versteht bislang nur Englisch, und kann auch keine Erinnerungen oder Kalendereinträge erstellen.

Die iPad-Benutzer(innen) unter euch müssen wohl oder übel auf den Jailbreak zurückgreifen: Der Cydia-Tweak “Spire” ist nämlich auf einen solchen angewiesen.
Zu Spire sei gesagt, dass die Installation (Anleitung im nachfolgenden Video) nicht ganz einfach ist, und nur über einen SiriProxy-Server funktioniert - die eigenen Anfragen können also potentiell abgehört werden.

Noch eine Ergänzung für die iPhone 4S Jailbreaker: Der 2,99 € teure Cydia-Tweak “Hands free Control” ermöglicht das Ansprechen von Siri völlig ohne Berühren des iPhones. Der Prozess hört im Hintergrund mit, und aktiviert bei Nennung von “Siri” die Sprachassistentin:

Heute um 16:00 Uhr MEZ hielt Apple wie berichtet ein Event ab zum Thema (Aus-)Bildung. Es wurden dort eine neue Version von iBooks vorgestellt und es wurden zwei neue Programme vorgestellt: iBooks Author (ein Programm um die neuen, interaktiven Bücher erstellen zu können), erhältlich im Mac App Store. Und eine iTunes U App, erhältlich im App Store. Auf der Apple Website gibt es auch schon ein Video das die neuen Programme näher beschreibt.

Neue Funktionen von iBooks:

• Erlebnisreiche Multi-Touch-Textbücher wurden speziell für das iPad entwickelt.
• iBooks-Textbücher enthalten viele interaktive Funktionen, Diagramme, Fotos und Videos.
• Mit dem Tippen eines Fingers öffnen Sie Bilder mit interaktiven Untertiteln, drehen Sie 3D-Objekte, blättern Sie durch Bildergalerien, sehen Sie Videos im Vollbildmodus und vieles mehr.
• Markieren Sie Text in einem Textbuch, indem Sie mit Ihrem Finger über den Text streichen.
• Benutzen Sie die Lernkarten, um wichtige Textstellen, Notizen und Glossarbegriffe zu lernen.
• Tippen Sie auf Glossarbegriffe, um die Definitionen für wichtige Themen und Konzepte einzublenden, ohne die Seite zu verlassen.

Die Shazam Musikerkennungs-App kennt wohl bereits jeder User eines Smartphones: Wenn man ein Lied hört, das gefällt, startet man einfach die App, und erfährt in wenigen Sekunden Titel und Interpreten.
Jetzt gibt es eine neue App von Shazam: Shazam Player ist eine kostenlose Musik-App, die im Vergleich zur Standard iPod-App mit Features vollgepackt sein soll – z.B. das Streamen von Songtexten, Konzertdaten der Interpreten, Youtube-Videos, Biographien der Künstler, aber auch der In-App Kauf von neuen Musikstücken via iTunes. Natürlich kann auch der Shazam Player Musik erkennen (die man auf Wunsch auch direkt kaufen kann).

Die App ist nicht so schlank und kompakt wie die iPod App, bringt aber einige tolle Features für Musikliebhaber mit sich.

Mit einem US-Account kann man die Shazam Player App bereits kostenlos herunterladen. Bis zum internationalen Start wird es wohl auch nicht mehr lange dauern.

Bereits vor einem Jahr machte Adobe einen großen Schritt mit einer HTML5-Version seines Service. Nun gibt es auch die dezidierte, native App für iOS.
