iPhone 5: NFC ab 2012 als iOS-Feature

Wie DigiTimes berichtet, wollen sowohl Apple als auch Microsoft im kommenden Jahr dem Beispiel von Android & Co. folgen, und NFC-Unterstützung in ihre Plattformen (im Fall von Apple iOS) bringen. NFC steht für Near Field Communication, und beschreibt die Möglichkeit des kontaktlosen Datenaustauschs über sehr kurze Distanzen (bis zu 4 cm). Das Potential dieser Technik kann besonders am Beispiel neuer, bequemer und vor allem bargeldloser Bezahlsysteme gezeigt werden. Aber auch das neue Android-Feature zum sofortigen Weitergeben von Informationen, Links, Apps etc. – genannt Android Beam – zeigt, was mit NFC möglich ist (Video im Anschluss).
Gerüchte um NFC-Technologie im iPhone 5 gibt es bereits seit dem Sommer 2010, 2012 soll es nun laut DigiTimes soweit sein.

Die Anzahl der NFC-fähigen Smartphones soll nicht zuletzt durch Apple innerhalb von 2-3 Jahren die 50 Prozent-Marke überschreiten:

As Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Bada have supported NFC (near field communication) functions and Microsoft and Apple plan to make Windows Phone and iOS support NFC in 2012, the proportion of NFC-enabled smartphones will quickly increase from less than 10% currently to over 50% in two to three years, according to Taiwan-based smartphone makers.

Samsung Electronics, HTC, Nokia and RIM have already launched NFC-enabled smartphone models in 2011, the sources noted. Without technological problems, the unsmooth development of NFC is mainly attributable to problems in standard specification, ecosystem and commercial operation, the sources indicated.
