Bekommt die nächste iPhone-Generation eine Rückseite aus Glas, oder doch aus Aluminium? Weder, noch – zumindest, wenn es nach dem neuesten, bekannt gewordenen Patent von Apple geht: Wie Engadget berichtet, hat sich Apple eingehend mit Mobilgeräten, die völlig in Glas eingeschlossen sind, befasst.
Einige Vorteile stechen dabei gleich ins Auge: Glas ist sowohl „Radio-transparent“ – also völlig durchlässig für Funksignale – und könnte das Gerät hermetisch versiegeln. Dadurch wäre es auch wasserdicht.
Zudem denkt Apple dabei an ein „einzigartiges, ästhetisch wertvolles Aussehen„.
So ein Glas-Gehäuse könnte entweder als „hohles Glasrohr“, oder aus zwei verschweißten Hälften bestehen.
