Die diesjährige All Things Digital Konferenz muss wohl als ganz großes Highlight im Vorfeld der WWDC bezeichnet werden. Denn neben der Bestätigung von iOS 7 gab Apple CEO Tim Cook sehr interessante Details zum Apple Fernseher iTV und der geplanten Apple Uhr iWatch bekannt.
„Es reicht nicht, tolle und innovative Produkte zu entwickeln. Denn das kann jeder. Die Schwierigkeit liegt darin, Menschen zu suggerieren, dass ein bestimmtes Produkt so genial ist, dass man es unbedingt tragen muss.“

Tim Cook über die iWatch
„Eine Smartwatch ist in der heutigen Zeit für einen großen Kundenkreis uninteressant. Fragt doch mal einen Raum voller 10 bis 24-Jähriger, wer eine Uhr besitzt. Niemand wird aufstehen. Die Uhr der Moderne ist ein iPhone oder Smartphone. Um Menschen zu begeistern, muss man sie mit einem Produkt begeistern, das echten Mehrwert bietet.“
There's nothing that's going to convince a kid who has never worn glasses or a band or a watch or whatever to wear one. Or at least I haven't seen it. So I think there's lots of things to solve in this space, but it's an area where it's ripe for exploration, it's ripe for us all getting excited about. I think there will be tons of companies playing in this.
I see it as another very key branch of the tree.
I think from a mainstream point of view [glasses] are difficult to see. I think the wrist is interesting. I'm wearing this (Nike Fuelband) on my wrist, it's somewhat natural. But as I said before, I think for something to work here, you first have to convince people it's so incredible that they want to wear it.
Tim Cook gab keine Bestätigung, aber auch keine Absage. Ein am Arm tragbares iDevices sei „incredible interesting“. Man kann also davon ausgehen, dass Apple tatsächlich ein interessantes Gerät in Arbeit hat, das jedoch deutlich mehr bieten könnte, als die aktuell erhältlichen und massiv boomenden Smartwatches von Pebble oder Nike.
