Auf die Frage, wofür man die neue Saphirglas-Fabrik gebaut habe, erklärte Apple CEO Tim Cook nun, dass man diese für ein „geheimes Projekt“ brauche, über das er noch nicht sprechen könne.

Zwar gab Tim Coook keine weiteren Details Preis, doch auf weitere Fragen antwortete er, dass man an einer „Erweiterung dessen arbeite, was man bereits mache“ und dass es sich um Dinge handle „die man nicht sehen könne“.

Weiters sei diese Entwicklung sehr wichtig, weil Apple „is getting ripped off left, right and sideways“ von seinen Mitbewerbern.

Sehr geheimnisvolle, aber auch ernstzunehmende Ankündigungen von Apples Tim Cook also…

„In response to a question about manufacturing in the U.S., Cook pointed to a plant a supplier recently opened in Arizona to produce sapphire exclusively for Apple. There's been speculation that Apple may use the super-hard sapphire to produce scratch-resistant screens for future iPhones. Cook said the Arizona facility was a „secret project“ that he couldn't talk about.

But then, he said other Apple suppliers „already make“ glass for iPhones in the U.S. An Apple spokeswoman declined additional comment“

Da Apple bisher jedes neue Projekt dementierte, kann Tim Cooks Erklärung auch bedeuten, dass es sich bei diesem ominösen „secret project“ um das iPhone 6 handelt, aber auch die iWatch kommt in Frage.

Ein anderes, bisher unbekannten Projekt scheint eher unwahrscheinlich…
