Grand Central Apple Store: Interaktives 360 Grad Panorama
Apple bietet seinen Fans jetzt auf der Grand Central Store Website einen besonderen Blick auf den neuen New Yorker Flagship-Store: Mit dem neuen, interaktiven 360° Panorama in der Bildergalerie kann man sich ab sofort auf iOS-Geräten mit Gyroskop einfach so in der Bahnstation umsehen, als wäre man dort: Jede Bewegung und Drehung bewegt auch das Blickfeld des Panorama-Bilds mit:

Die New Yorker Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) präsentiert zur Eröffnung des Apple Store Grand Central, wie der neue Flagship-Store aussieht, und in eine der größten Sehenswürdigkeiten des "Großen Apfels" passt:

Von Apple gibt es zusätzlich eine Auswahl großartiger Fotos vom neuen Store.
Der Grand Central Store kommt mit seinen 2136 Quadratmetern fast an den Londoner Regent Street Store (2322 m2) und den Covent Garden Store (2285 m2) heran, und soll Schätzungen zufolge ca. 100 Millionen Dollar pro Jahr an Erlösen bringen.

Offiziell: Neuer Grand Central Apple Store wird am 9. Dezember eröffnet
Per Presseaussendung hat Apple jetzt, wie üblich zeitlich sehr knapp, offiziell bekannt gegeben, dass der neue Flagship Apple Store in der New Yorker Grand Central Station übermorgen, am 9. Dezember, eröffnet wird.
315 Angestellte werden künftig im neuen Apple Store arbeiten und Services wie Persönliche Abholung, zwei Genius Bars, neue 15-minütige "Express Workshops" für praktische Tipps und Tricks usw. anbieten.
Der neue Grand Central Store wird Montag bis Freitag von 07:00 Uhr morgens bis 21:00 Uhr abends, Samstags von 10:00 bis 19:00 Uhr und am Sonntag von 11:00 bis 18:00 Uhr geöffnet sein.
Derzeit gibt es weltweit 361 Apple Stores in 11 Ländern, darunter die USA, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Deutschland und die Schweiz.

Plant Apple ein zusätzliches Rechenzentrum in Oregon?
Das bei der WWDC 2011 vorgestellte, 1 Milliarden Dollar schwere, Super-Rechenzentrum in North Carolina war anscheinend erst der Anfang: Zusätzlich zum Leasing-Vertrag eines Rechenzentrums in Silicon Valley, Kalifornien kommt möglicherweise bald weiteres in Oregon zur Liste der Apple-Datenzentren hinzu:
Apple is nearing a decision whether or not to purchase land in Oregon to build a massive new data center, reports Oregon Live. The piece of land is 160-acres in Prineville, Oregon, and a 1/4 mile from one of Facebook’s data centers (pictured above). Apple has until the end of the month to make a decision on whether or not they want to buy the land — which will be the setting to build a new 31-megawatt data center.
