iOS 4 ist da!
Apple hat heute, wie angekündigt, das neue iOS 4 für iPhone 3G, 3GS und 4 sowie iPod Touch 2. und 3. Generation veröffentlicht.
Die Neuerungen wurden schon vielfach beschrieben: Multitasking, App-Ordner, Zentrale Mail-App, Benutzerdefinierte Hintergrundbilder für Home- und Lockscreen, iBooks, Playlisten, 5-fach Digitalzoom und Gesichtserkennung sind die wichtigsten.
iPhone 2G und iPT 1G erhielten leider kein Update, bei den jeweils ältesten Modellen (also iPhone 3G und iPod Touch 2G) werden nicht alle iOS 4 Funktionen unterstützt.

iPhone 4: Unlock ist möglich!
Eine Twitter-Message von MuscleNerd bestätigt die Möglichkeit, iOS 4 mit BaseBand 05.12.01 oder höher zu unlocken:

Musclenerd bestätigt also, dass iOS 4 auch mit der aktuellsten Baseband-Version entsperrbar ist. In Kürze dürfte es demnach auch ein Unlock-Tool geben.
Multitasking Apps für iOS 4 jetzt im AppStore
Die erste Serie Multitasking-fähiger iPhone Apps hat es bereits gestern, 4 Tage vor der Veröffentlichung des iOS 4, in Apple's AppStore geschafft.
Zur Erinnerung: Apple hat die folgenden 7 Multitasking-APIs für Apps von Drittanbietern eingerichtet:
Background audio
Allows your app to play audio continuously.Voice over IP
Users can now receive VoIP calls and have conversations while using another app.Background location
Navigation apps can now continue to guide users who are using other appsPush notifications
Receive alerts from your remote servers even when your app isn't running.Local notifications

This will allow users to leave your app and come right back to where they were when they left - no more having to reload the app.

iOS 4: Video-Export in Facebook
Social Networking gewinnt immer mehr an Beliebtheit. Apple hat sich, vermutlich genau aus diesem Grund, dazu entschieden, die Video-Export-Optionen etwas zu erweitern:
In iOS 4 kann man Videos ohne große Umwege direkt in Facebook posten. Bisher war das Teilen auf die 4 Optionen Email, MMS, MobileMe und Youtube beschränkt.
Dem Code-Schnippsel rechts kann man entnehmen, dass die längere Seite des Videos maximal 480 Pixel betragen darf, und dass Videos mit bis zu 30 fps exportiert werden können.

Neue Infos zu iMovie für iPhone
Es gibt neue Infos zum kommenden iMovie for iPhone - der wirklich beeindruckenden Videobearbeitungs-App, die Steve Jobs bei der WWDC Keynote vorstellte:
- Die App läuft nur auf dem iPhone 4, aufgrund des schnelleren A4-Chips (und vermutlich auch aufgrund der besseren Displayauflösung). Die offizielle Begründung beruft sich auf das Berechnen von Videos und Echtzeit-Videoübergänge.
- Projekte können nicht als solches zu iMovie am Mac exportiert werden, fertige Videos können aber (natürlich) problemlos mit iTunes übertragen werden.
- Die App kann sowohl früher aufgezeichnete Videos/Fotos, als auch live mitgeschnittene Clips verwenden. Durch die Dateisystem-Änderungen im iOS können auch Multimediadateien aus Emails verwendet werden, weil diese ebenfalls im "Camera Roll" Ordner abgelegt werden.
- Nur von Apple unterstützte Formate (wie H.264) können verwendet werden, AVI-Dateien sind dagegen ungeeignet.
- Die App wird am 24. Juni für 4,99 $ in den AppStore kommen, eine iPad-Version soll es vorläufig nicht geben.

iBooks für iPhone ist da!
Gestern wurde die iBooks-Version für iPhone und iPod Touch von Apple veröffentlicht. Diese Neuigkeit dürfte die meisten iPhone-Fans allerdings weniger begeistern als es scheinen mag: Immerhin ist die App nur mit iOS 4 kompatibel, und darauf muss die breite Allgemeinheit noch bis zum 21.06. warten.
Developer mit Zugang zum Golden Master Candidate von iOS 4 bekommen aber bereits jetzt beim Synchronisieren mit iTunes 9.2 eine entsprechende Meldung, dass iBooks verfügbar ist und installiert werden kann.

iPhone 4 Jailbreak mit Redsn0w 0.9.5
Das iPhone 4 ist noch nicht einmal da, und schon gibt es Meldungen über den Jailbreak mit Redsn0w.
Einen funktionierenden Jailbreak für die 4. Betaversion des iOS 4.0 (vormals iPhone OS 4.0) gibt es bereits, allerdings nur für Developer.
Wie MuscleNerd jetzt bestätigt hat, ist der redsn0w-Jailbreak auch für die aktuelle Golden-Master-Version (iOS 4 GM) geeignet:

For those who can legitimately activate to the iPhone3G 4.0GM seed, the “point to previous IPSW” redsn0w trick works and will jailbreak your 4.0GM.
The “trick” is to point redsn0w at the 4.0beta4 IPSW instead of 4.0GM (do this after you've updated to 4.0GM and activated through the new iTunes 9.2 on your Mac).
Since the carrier unlocks aren't yet supported at 4.0, don't do this if you use yellowsn0w/ultrasn0w/blacksn0w. Many JB apps are still pretty buggy in 4.0, so again this is mostly useful only for developers of those JB apps....
For those without legit iPhone3G 4.0GM seed access, please wait until the full public 4.0 release for updates to the jailbreak tools.
